My philosophy on printing & fine art

Why print?

While we live in the digital age, I believe in the power of displaying photographs in your home or place of business. The printed photograph’s effectiveness helps us appreciate the moment in a space that takes us from a screen to personal interaction. When you hold a picture in your hand, I want you to feel the weight of it and be proud to own the moment because good memories deserve to be on paper.

What exactly is Fine Art?

Fine art is an idea I attach to work that is less about commercial photography and more about creative expression, feeling and emotion. Fine art is not any one genre or subject in photography but is a concept of how the picture is meant to feel. It involves the creative process and the media on which it is printed.

I choose to print my Fine Art pictures on professional-grade premium papers, whether for personal use or for a client. These premium papers vary in texture and temperature from smooth and cool white to a warm heavy matte with an almost yellowish tent. Choosing the right paper for an image boils down to the nature of what the picture is communicating as well as the subject itself.

Having your photographs printed on premium archival papers using archival ink extends the life of the print as it won’t fade as quickly as using non-archival methods. We all know art plays a role in mood and emotion, so while we are flooded with pictures from just about everywhere, it hits closer to home when there are prints of your truly meaningful moments that enrich your space.
